Collodion tintypes of scientific specimens from the Australian National Fish Collection

They that dwell in the deep. Creatures from the nether regions of our vast but threatened planet.

I made these collodion tintypes while undertaking an artist's residency in 2016 at the Australian National Fish Collection housed at the CSIRO Marine Labs in Hobart.

This collection is of immeasurable national and international scientific importance. These specimens are ambassadors of their species and exemplars of the precious biological richness within in our rivers and oceans.

The uniqueness of each tintype plate echoes the uniqueness each evolutionary wonder represents and pays homage to the life given so we might better understand the life in our seas
